The children can paint a route. They should record whether it goes through the forest or over the fields, whether you pass a lake on their route or climb over a mountain. So you will find out what your children are interested in and can take this into your planning. The children can do this while you look at the apps or look for routes.
This also promotes the anticipation of the hike.

Today we tried the tour to the cooker's origin in Unterkochen. We changed the tour (Komoot) a little bit and shortened it. In Unterkochen we turned into the Bischof-Hefele-Weg and started there at the parking lot from the sports field. After crossing the second bridge keep always right, then you come back to the parking lot. There is a short steeper piece, the small children at the hand but can cope well.
On this circular trail (2.5 km) the little ones get their money's worth. You can see many springs and the children can get into the water in many places. Matschhose and rubber boots must not be missing during this hike. Also a self-made paper ship and a bucket provide a lot of fun.

Dear Jen, thank you for your experience with Kommot and the advice on how to shorten this route. For children, this seems to be a paradise.

    Definitely it's a paradise!
Today we once again took a walk with Kommot in the cooker's origin (white cooker in Unterkochen). We ran again the shortened route to the first spring. On the way there we collected sticks and sprayed them in the water, threw them in and fished them out. At the spring the water is so flat that even small children can play and splash in the water. After that we collected stones and threw them into the water. It is nice to watch what the little girl was amazed about, what ideas she had and what adventures she experienced in nature.
    Explorer Jen.
Another tip: With rubber boots, the children can walk well through the water.
