Most children like to observe everything that crawls in the nature of beetles. This also includes the earworms. They are nocturnal and especially popular with garden owners, because they eat the aphids of fruit trees and roses. You can easily build an insect house for earworms with the children. For this you only need a clay pot and some straw.
Prepare the clay pot and look for this small branch, which then holds the string.
The children send to look for a small branch, then attach a piece of string to it (about 50 cm). Pull the string through the hole in the clay pot, so that the branch is in the inner part of the clay pot.
Hold the straw together to form a tuft, so tie the string with the branch.
Now push the straw tuft into the clay pot. Children may need some help. The straw should fill the pot.
Now pull on the string. The straw may look out of the clay pot below.
Now you can look in the garden for a suitable place on the tree or bush and hang the insect hotel for the earworms.
Have fun!
