Colors inspire children and they meet us everywhere in everyday life. That's why many children like color games. Combined with movement, children get to know the colors playfully.
In the case of small children stay with the basic colors red, yellow and blue. Possibly still green as color to accept. If you do not have matching colored cushions, then use a towel in the corresponding color.
The children sort the colors. In doing so, the colors name over and over again. As a result, the colors are defined. Place each color in a corner or place it in a square (see photo).
Game 1: Let music play and as soon as the music stops, call a color. The children run into the corner of the mentioned color. You can also tell the children, without music, to which color they should run next.
Game 2: If the children do not yet know the colors, then the color combines with an object that the children know. For example runs to the color red, red like tomatoes. Runs to the color green, green like the grass etc.
Game 3: Names an object that can be clearly assigned to a color, such as running to the color of sunflowers, poppies, the sky, the meadow, etc.
Game 4: Names objects that are in the children's viewing area. For example, running to the color of the pants of Theo, running to the color of the fire engine, running to the color of the watering can. Then you ask: What color is that?
Game 5: Run to your favorite color. Each child runs to his favorite color and names it. You can also ask why that is the respective favorite color.
The children also like to change. I.e. you play along and a child calls colors or objects. Your imagination is not limited. Have fun!
