In this simple experiment with smarties and some water, you can create a pretty rainbow on the plate. The top layer of the chocolates consists of sugar dyed with food color. With water, the sugar and the paint dissolves and wanders into the center of the circle.
Put a craft pad on the table.
Prepare the plate and pour your smarties on the plate. Your plate should have an inner edge as you see it in the photo.
Now the smarties hang up next to each other in a circle at the inner edge.
You can put it on a color pattern,
or just hang up as the smarties are on the plate.
Now you get the jug with the water.
You are now carefully pouring so much water over the smarties that the chocolates are a little bit in the water.
You can see how the colors dissolve.
Now you can observe how the colors mix. After the experiment you can take the chocolates out of the water and still eat.
